The ‘Mencho’s’ brother-in-law negotiates with the U.S. to avoid trial

Abigael González Valencia, ‘el Cuini’, brother-in-law of the recently killed Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias ‘el Mencho’, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), began negotiations with the U.S. to avoid going to trial, reported this Tuesday Mexican media. González Valencia, identified as one of the main operators of the CJNG, requested to postpone for 60 days the hearing scheduled for next March 20, according to documents filed before the District Court of Columbia, where he is accused of the alleged crimes of organized crime, use of firearms and massive drug trafficking. Considered the man who designed the business strategy of the CJNG, now turned into one of the most powerful criminal organizations in the world, he was extradited by the Government of Mexico in August 2025.
