Three people were killed and four others, including a toddler, were injured in a shooting Sunday evening at the Bite of Seattle food festival, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Police said officers already assigned to the Seattle Center grounds heard gunfire at about 6 p.m. and responded immediately. Preliminary findings indicate that two people exchanged gunfire outside the Seattle Center Armory, striking seven people of various ages.
Authorities identified the victims who died as a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman. Two died at the scene, while the third succumbed to injuries at Harborview Medical Center. The four surviving victims remained in stable condition at local hospitals as of early Monday, police said.
Officers arrested one suspect at the scene, who was taken to Seattle Police Headquarters for questioning. Investigators said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public and are working to identify any additional individuals involved. Detectives from the Homicide Unit and Gun Violence Reduction Unit are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting.
