Washington, 25.- The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Friday that “extraordinary things will happen” following what he described as a “very productive” meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, who is concluding a three-day official visit to the North American country.
“A very productive meeting with President Xi, for both the United States and China. Extraordinary things are going to happen,” wrote Trump on his social network Truth Social, where he also referred to the interest of both countries regarding the development of artificial intelligence.

The U.S. president stated that Xi Jinping found the proposal to change the term “artificial intelligence” to “superintelligence” favorable, a designation that Trump considered more precise and important.
Artificial intelligence took center stage during the conversations between the two leaders and was also present during the state dinner held on Thursday at the White House, which was attended by prominent figures from the U.S. technology industry.

Among the guests were Elon Musk, from xAI; Sam Altman, from OpenAI; Jensen Huang, from Nvidia; Tim Cook, from Apple; Sundar Pichai, from Alphabet; Jeff Bezos, from Amazon, and Michael Dell, from Dell Technologies.
The participation of Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, was also planned, although he ultimately did not attend the meeting. Amodei has been among the industry executives who have advocated for the need to establish controls on the development of artificial intelligence.
Although artificial intelligence was described as a “key topic” on the agenda of Washington and Beijing, so far no concrete agreement on this matter has emerged. The dialogue takes place in a context of technological competition between the two main economic powers.

Trump rejects
Trump has rejected calls to slow down the development of artificial intelligence and has maintained that the United States currently holds a leadership position over China.
“An important day with President Xi of China. Superintelligence (SI) will be a key topic of discussion, but I want to leave it exactly where it is. That is also China’s position,” Trump expressed in a previous post.
The U.S. president also noted that protection against the potential risks of artificial intelligence would be in the hands of the Department of Justice.
In the commercial sphere, the United States and China agreed to extend the trade truce they are maintaining until next January 10, a measure that allows for containing part of the tariff escalation between both economies.
The agreement also contemplates the suspension of some cross-restrictions related to strategic sectors, including rare earths and certain high-tech products.
Trump has defended the continuity of American technological development and has insisted that Washington must maintain its lead in the field of artificial intelligence.
The relationship between both powers continues to be marked by competition in technology, trade, and access to strategic components. While the United States seeks to maintain its position in the development of advanced systems, China is attempting to reduce the impact of the restrictions imposed by Washington on access to certain chips.
