A crocodile attacked and killed its handler at a wildlife park in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, after dragging him into the water and performing what is known as a “death roll.”
The attack occurred on September 6 while the worker was feeding the crocodile. The animal grabbed him by the legs and dragged him into a pond inside the enclosure. Witnesses said it kept the man’s legs in its jaws for nearly an hour as visitors and fellow workers tried to help.
Police eventually opened fire on the crocodile. According to witnesses, officers had to fire several shots before the animal finally collapsed after the 11th shot.
The handler was taken to a local hospital but died the following morning. He had reportedly worked at the park for about two years.
The wildlife park remains closed, and authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

His death came months after videos emerged showing other employees approaching crocodiles in what appeared to be reckless behavior. However, there is no evidence that the victim appeared in those videos.
