A new night of tension was reported at the Ceuta border, where thousands of irregular migrants reportedly gathered near the frontier with the intention of entering Spanish territory.

Moroccan security forces confronted dozens of people, mostly sub-Saharan migrants, who were allegedly attempting to cross the border irregularly into Ceuta, according to the information provided.

The clashes took place in a mountainous area about three kilometers from the Ceuta border, near the Moroccan town of Castillejos. Security forces reportedly used tear gas and helicopters to disperse the migrants, with dozens of people detained.

Journalists from Spanish public broadcaster TVE and news agency EFE were also ordered to leave the area and were prevented from covering the operation from the scene. According to TVE correspondent Arantxa Marculeta, local authorities warned that journalists could lose their press permits if they did not comply and that their recorded material could potentially be confiscated.
