Berlin.- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this Sunday in his monthly assessment of weapons used by Russia that throughout the month of January the enemy launched against Ukrainian territory 6,000 drones, 5,500 guided aerial bombs and 158 missiles.
“In January alone, Russia launched more than 6,000 assault drones, approximately 5,500 guided aerial bombs, and 158 missiles of various types against us,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
Almost all of them were used against targets in the energy sector or other infrastructure such as railways, he underlined and pointed out that repair work continues throughout Ukraine to restore the functioning of these essential systems. “Now the attacks continue. During the last week, Russia has used more than 980 assault drones, almost 1,100 guided aerial bombs and two missiles against Ukraine. We are registering attempts to destroy logistics and transport routes between cities and communities,” Zelensky said. Therefore, he justified, Ukraine still urgently needs more air defenses, such as missiles for Patriot systems, NASAMS or F-16 fighter jets. However, since Thursday, Kyiv has not reported that the energy system has been subjected to new attacks. Last night, a drone caused the death of two civilians, a man and a woman, in the central region of Dnipropetrovsk, according to regional authorities who reported this Sunday, stating the impact destroyed a home and damaged two others, as well as causing a fire.
