“We have also discussed in detail the diplomatic process and the trilateral meetings,” added Zelensky referring to the meetings between Russians, Ukrainians and Americans scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday next week in Geneva.
Rubio, for his part, stated that in the meeting with the Ukrainian president they both discussed “the security of Ukraine and the deepening of economic and defense alliances,” he posted on X. “President (American Donald) Trump wants a solution that puts an end to the bloodshed once and for all,” he assured. Zelensky stated that the Geneva talks must offer results, and thanked the U.S. for its “constructive” attitude in facilitating these negotiations. “It is important that there are movements on the issues of security guarantees and economic recovery,” Zelensky also wrote. In addition to the peace agreement that Russia must also accept, Ukraine and the U.S. are preparing two other documents whereby Washington must commit to offering security guarantees to Kyiv and to contributing to Ukraine’s economic recovery after the war.
