Washington.- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked this Tuesday during an interview that his American counterpart, Donald Trump, has made an unexpected turn on his position regarding the territorial distribution with Russia in the framework of the conflict between both countries.
“I think he understands for today that we cannot simply exchange territories. It’s not fair. It’s not the reality,” Zelensky said during an interview with the American network Fox News.

The Ukrainian leader hammered home with a “God bless you” his gratitude to Trump for the radical turn that the American leader made during the United Nations General Assembly (UN) by urging Ukraine to “fight” until it regains the territories occupied by Russia, in an apparent break with the line of peace negotiations that he had promoted during August.
“(Ukraine) has a great spirit, getting stronger and stronger. It will be able to recover its country in its original form and, who knows, maybe even go further! Putin and Russia are in serious economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
For his part, Zelensky said that his relationship with Trump has improved, that they maintain constant calls and added that Trump’s shift is possibly due to Putin “having lied to him repeatedly.”
One of the specific requests that Zelensky made this afternoon to Trump is to urge India and China to reaffirm their position in support of Ukraine.
During the interview, Zelensky was questioned about the state of his Army’s troops after 43 months of war and he responded that they are in a “very difficult position”. “We are surviving, but we cannot lose. We cannot lose. Otherwise we will lose our independence,” he added.
Finally, the leader of Kyiv denied that there is no will to hold elections in his country, as he has been criticized, but reaffirmed that this process cannot take place until “there is a ceasefire”.
