Switzerland. The legendary French ex-driver Alain Prost suffered a minor head injury during a violent assault perpetrated by a masked gang at his residence located in Nyon, Switzerland, according to local media and police authorities.
According to information published by the Swiss press, the robbery occurred on Tuesday morning at the home of the four-time Formula 1 world champion, located about 25 kilometers north of Geneva. Although the Vaud cantonal police did not officially reveal the identity of the victims, they confirmed that a family was attacked by several hooded individuals.
In a statement, the authorities indicated that the assailants entered the residence around 8:30 in the morning, threatened the occupants and lightly hit one of the family members on the head, in circumstances that are still under investigation.
Subsequently, the criminals forced another person to open a safe before escaping the scene. So far, the total value of the stolen items has not been determined.
The police also reported that they launched a large search operation in coordination with Swiss and French security forces, as well as border control units. Psychological support was also offered to the affected family after the traumatic incident.
Prost, 71 years old, is considered one of the greatest legends of Formula 1. During his career he competed with the McLaren, Renault, Ferrari and Williams teams, winning world titles in 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1993.
In the history of the highest category of motorsport, only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, both with seven championships, in addition to the Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio with five crowns, surpass the record of the historic French driver.
