NEW YORK.– The New York Yankees officially announced this Tuesday the signing of veteran Dominican player Amed Rosario, who agreed to a one-year contract and US$2.5 million to return to the Bronx for the 2026 Major League season.

Rosario, 30 years old, had a solid performance with the Yankees after being acquired at the 2025 Trade Deadline, which facilitated the agreement for his continuity with the organization. In the past season, divided between the Washington Nationals and the Yankees, the infielder batted .276, with six home runs, 23 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .436, the best mark of his career, in 62 games. Despite having played for seven organizations over nine seasons in the Major Leagues, Rosario continues to be a versatile player, with above-average offensive ability and experience in multiple defensive positions. In 2025, he saw action at third base, second base, right field, and shortstop, adding depth to the roster. The Quisqueyano, who was considered the number five prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline in 2017, reached the Major Leagues with the New York Mets and was later part of the trade that brought Francisco Lindor to Cleveland in 2021. With the Guardians he had two productive seasons, standing out in 2022 by leading the Majors with nine triples. Since leaving Cleveland, Rosario has taken on a utility player role, providing experience and defensive consistency on teams like Dodgers, Reds, Rays, Nationals and now again with the Yankees, who value his ability to cover multiple positions and his lifetime batting average of .273.
