CHICAGO, U.S.A. — Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg was named the NBA Rookie of the Year on Monday, after an outstanding first season in the league.
Selected with the number one pick in the 2025 draft, Flagg, just 19 years old and trained at Duke University, averaged 21 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, establishing himself as one of the leading young figures in professional basketball.
The player born in Newport, Maine, won the vote conducted by a panel of 100 specialized journalists, surpassing Kon Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets, and VJ Edgecombe of the Philadelphia 76ers.
In addition to his numbers, Flagg matched a historic mark set by Michael Jordan as a rookie, by leading his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals in the same season. He also became the second youngest player to receive this award, surpassed only by LeBron James.
With this recognition, Flagg reaffirms his status as a rising star and key player in the present and future of the Mavericks.
