Eugenio Suárez shines again with two home runs and D-backs sweep the Cardinals
Phoenix. Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez continues to be hot with the bat, hitting two home runs for the second consecutive game, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, this Sunday at Chase Field.
Suárez hit a three-run homer in the first inning and added another solo shot in the third episode, on a day where he once again demonstrated his offensive power. This was his third game with multiple home runs in his last five games, and the sixth he has achieved so far this season, also highlighting an amazing four-homer game at the beginning of the campaign.
Thanks to their performance, the D-backs completed the sweep in the series against St. Louis and improved to 3-0 since the All-Star break, showing positive signs heading into the imminent Trade Deadline.
From the mound, Merrill Kelly delivered a solid start by pitching six innings of just three hits and two earned runs, giving the ideal support to Suárez’s offensive display.
Arizona’s management now faces key decisions with the team on the rise, and the good form of players like Suárez could influence the approach to reinforce the roster with a view to the final stretch of the season.
