Toronto, Canada.– Dominican pitcher Eury Pérez left his start against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday due to right hamstring discomfort, in a game held at the Rogers Centre.

The Marlins’ right-hander had worked four scoreless innings with an outstanding performance in which he struck out nine batters, his highest of the season, before experiencing physical discomfort that forced him to leave the game.

The team’s broadcasts showed Pérez receiving medical attention in the dugout after showing pain while warming up to return to the mound in the fifth inning. He later needed help to get to the clubhouse.

Reliever Michael Petersen entered the game in relief of the Dominican.
