Héctor Neris and Jimmy Paredes will continue with the Leones del Escogido

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Baseball Operations management of the national two-time champions, Leones del Escogido, informed that right-handed reliever Héctor Neris and outfielder Jimmy Paredes will continue with the scarlet team.

Neris, 36 years old, was instrumental in the 18th crown obtained by the Lions in the 2025-26 campaign. Adding up all the stages, he completed 14.0 innings, 12 of them in the postseason, with an ERA of 0.64, a WHIP of 1.07 and 13 strikeouts. Only in the playoffs, the opposition batted .135 against him. The native of Villa Altagracia, with 12 years of experience in the Major Leagues, totals 114.2 innings in his career, encompassing all phases of the Dominican winter league, including a 2.55 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 98 strikeouts. Paredes, 37 years old, recently participated with the Escogido in the 2026 Caribbean Series in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he averaged .500 in the preliminary round, with a home run and a run batted in. The scarlet captain and native of Santo Domingo completed his eleventh campaign with the reds and the number 16 overall in the Lidom. Lifetime in regular series he bats .236, with 120 RBIs, 113 runs scored, 12 home runs and 42 doubles in 319 games. Neris and Paredes join Junior Lake, Sócrates Brito, and José Marmolejos, shortstop Erik González, and reliever Alexander Colomé, within the group of free agents from Escogido who have renewed with the club. Each of those mentioned will be exercising their mutual option for the 2027-28 season, granting the Lions the tournament reserve right, as a team option.
