Boston.— Mike Trout shined in the 7-6 victory of the Los Angeles Angels over the Boston Red Sox, hitting three hits, including a huge three-run home run that hit the light pole between left and center field in an explosive six-run first inning.

Zach Neto opened the game with a home run, and the Angels took a 5-0 lead before Boston’s starting pitcher, Richard Fitts (0-3), recorded his first out of the game. Jo Adell also contributed with the bat: he hit a home run in that same first inning and added another solo shot in the sixth inning, after Boston had closed the gap.
Jarren Duran led the Red Sox offense with three hits, including a double that started a four-run rally in the fifth. Ceddanne Rafaela hit a home run in the eighth inning to make the final score 7-6.
Ryan Zeferjahn (3-1) earned the victory by pitching a perfect seventh inning, with two strikeouts. Kenley Jansen earned his eleventh save of the season, getting the final three outs, including a deep fly ball by Romy González that was caught near the warning track in right field.
Trout, who returned Friday after a month on the injured list with a bone bruise in his left knee, has looked good in his return: he has eight hits in 14 at-bats since his reinstatement.
