HOUSTON. – Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino sent a special message to the fans of the Tigres del Licey when recalling his brief stint in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

During a conversation with the press prior to the match between Italy (Baseball Selection) and the United States (Baseball Selection) in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, the slugger recalled his experience playing in Dominican winter ball in the 2021-22 season.
Without being directly asked about his stay with the blue team, Pasquantino took the opportunity to address the Licey fans and apologize for his performance at that time.
“I would like to speak to the people of the Dominican Republic quickly. Please invite me back sometime. I apologize for how badly I played in that league,” the player expressed, looking at the camera.
In that season, Pasquantino participated in eight games with Licey, in which he batted 4-for-31 for a .133 average, with a home run, two RBIs, and three runs scored before ending his participation with the club.
Despite that brief stint, the player assured that he has fond memories of his experience in the country and that he would like to have the opportunity to return in the future to demonstrate a better level.
“Go Licey. Licey champion,” said in Spanish the batter, who added that it was an honor to have represented the blue team and play in the Dominican Republic.
