Toros extend their dominance with a fourth straight victory and surpass Leones 7-4

LA ROMANA.- Jeimer Candelario drove in three runs, Bryan De La Cruz had three hits, and the Taurine bullpen once again performed with solidity, to lead the Toros del Este to a 7-4 victory over the Leones del Escogido, this Wednesday at the Francisco A. Micheli stadium.

With the triumph, the Toros set their record at 18-15, extend their winning streak to four, remain firm in second place in the standings and reinforce their 8-1 dominance in the particular series against the Leones, who now fall to 14-19. Left-handed reliever José Manuel Fernández (1-0, 3.86) earned the win after stopping a serious red threat in the fifth inning. The loss fell on Jacob Barnes (0-2, 5.14), charged with three runs, while Joe Corbett closed the door to record his third save of the campaign. During this streak of four victories, the bullfighting pitching staff has been decisive, recording a collective effectiveness of 2.50, with a bullpen that has shone with an impeccable 1.40 ERA.

THE RACES

The Lions took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, with a single by Jonathan Guzmán that allowed Sócrates Brito and Eguy Rosario to score due to an error by Jeimer Candelario, as well as a run-scoring hit by Chadwick Tromp. The Bulls reacted immediately in the bottom of the same inning with two runs, the result of a deep triple by Candelario to right field that drove in Eloy Jiménez. Candelario himself then scored on an error by third baseman Eguy Rosario, after a hit by Tres Barrera, closing the score to 3-2. In the third act, a double play grounder by Yairo Muñoz with the bases loaded allowed the Romanenses to tie the score 3-3. The decisive rally came in the fifth inning, when the “Toro-Lío” was unleashed. With the bases loaded, Candelario hit a two-run single that put the game 5-3. Eloy Jiménez advanced to third and then scored on a surprise bunt by Tres Barrera. Rookie Welbyn Francisca completed the rally with a single to right field that drove in Candelario to extend the lead to 7-3. The last red threat occurred in the eighth inning, when Héctor Rodríguez hit a solo home run to right field to close the score to 7-4, but the bull pen remained unwavering until the end.
