United States.- The Chicago White Sox have reached a minor league agreement with veteran right-handed pitcher Noah Syndergaard, in an attempt to revive the career of the 32-year-old pitcher who once shone as one of the most promising figures in baseball.

The contract was signed this Tuesday and Syndergaard, nicknamed “Thor” for his powerful presence on the mound and his long blonde hair in his golden years, is already training at the club’s complex in Glendale, Arizona. Syndergaard hasn’t pitched in the Major Leagues since the 2023 season, in which he had a difficult stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cleveland Guardians, leaving a combined record of 2-6 with an ERA of 6.50 in 18 starts. His performance in recent years has been affected by injuries, particularly after undergoing Tommy John surgery, which cut short his continuity since leaving the Mets in 2021. Despite those setbacks, his career includes moments of great achievement. His best season was in 2016 with the New York Mets, when he finished with a record of 14-9, a brilliant 2.60 ERA, an invitation to the All-Star Game and eighth place in the Cy Young voting of the National League. In his eight seasons in MLB, Syndergaard has a record of 59-47 with an ERA of 3.71, figures that reflect the potential that Chicago hopes to recover under this new agreement. The deal with the White Sox doesn’t guarantee an immediate spot on the Major League roster, but it opens the door for Syndergaard to attempt a comeback from the minors, hoping to once again be a valuable piece in a rotation in need of depth.
