United States – The Oklahoma City Thunder struck a blow by stopping the momentum of the Los Angeles Lakers with a 108-90 victory in the first game of the Western Conference semifinals.

Even though Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had his quietest night of the season with just 18 points, the reigning champion showed its depth and control of the game to win clearly. Oklahoma’s defense once again made a difference against a Lakers team with limited offensive options.
The veteran LeBron James, at 41 years old, was the most outstanding player on his team with 27 points, in addition to 4 rebounds and 6 assists, scoring a remarkable 71% in field goals. However, his effort was insufficient against the solid opposing team.
The absence of Luka Dončić, the season’s top scorer, continues to weigh on the Los Angeles offense. Austin Reaves also failed to respond, who is struggling in these playoffs and only scored 8 points with low efficiency.
After a promising start led by LeBron, the game quickly changed course. Oklahoma imposed its rhythm, supported by an outstanding performance by Chet Holmgren, who led the attack with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Detroit strikes first in the East
In the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons ended a 12-game losing streak in the playoffs against the Cleveland Cavaliers by winning 111-101 in the first game of the series.
The home team built their victory from defense, managing to stop figures like James Harden and Donovan Mitchell, who combined for 10 turnovers.
The offensive leadership fell to Cade Cunningham again, who finished with 23 points and 7 assists. Tobias Harris (20 points, 8 rebounds) and Jalen Duren also stood out, key in the closing with 11 points, 12 rebounds and decisive defensive actions.
Detroit built a lead of up to 18 points, but Cleveland reacted in the final stretch thanks to a burst from Harden that tied the score. However, Duren’s response —with a key block and several dunks— sealed the victory for the home team.
