Santiago.- The Association of Athletes with Disabilities (Adadis) Los Valientes del Cibao is requesting financial assistance to represent the country in a basketball tournament, which will take place from June 20 to 23 in Puerto Rico.
The president of (Adadis), Joel Mercado, stated that they are worried, because they do not have the economic resources they need to be able to represent the country in the sporting event for which they are requesting the sum of 346 thousand pesos which includes the purchase of flights, accommodation and food, among other expenses.
“ Les damos las gracias a Dios, por darnos la oportunidad de participar y poder representar nuestro país. Nosotros estamos muy preocupados, porque tenemos una situación de presupuesto”, aseveró Mercado.
Faced with the event, Mercado called upon all institutions that have requested support through letters for the collaborations they need to participate in the event that will take place on the island of enchantment.
Teresa Cepeda, a member of the adapted basketball athletes with disabilities, expressed that they have sent letters to various public institutions, including the First Lady of the Republic, Raquel Arbaje, to whom they are appealing, because they have not received a response regarding the requested aid.
Given the lack of responses from the Ministry of Sports and other institutions to whom they requested help, they have enabled a bank account to collect funds. In that sense, they invited people who want to make a contribution and help them get to the competition to transfer their contribution to this bank account: 960 561 62 5214 of the Banco de Reservas.
