SANTO DOMINGO, DR.- The Directorate of Extra-hospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH), of the Dominican Republic, and the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Attention System, carried out a casualty evaluation drill this Thursday at the Aquatic Complex of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

The drill was carried out in the diving pool area of the aforementioned facility to measure the time it takes to remove an injured person from the water during the competitions for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
To that effect, the DAEH and 9-1-1 commissions were presented, which are responsible for coordinating and providing emergency medical care outside of hospitals, including pre-hospital care at the scene of the emergency.
As well as, the transport of patients in ambulances, inter-hospital transfers when a patient needs to be taken to another center with greater capacity, and coordination of the Emergency and Urgency Regulatory Centers (CRUE).

The DAEH is part of the 9-1-1 system, as its health component, and when a medical emergency requires an ambulance, the 9-1-1 System coordinates the response with the DAEH.
The drill was coordinated by Dr. Rudy Desgracia and Dr. Cruz Álvarez, medical area coordinator for the Games
Central Americans and the Caribbean, and the medical doctor of the Aquatic Complex, Yisel Dotel Valenzuela.
