New York, USA – After more than a year of silence since the release of its first trailer, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that the long-awaited video game Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) will not arrive in 2025 as had been anticipated. The new release date announced is May 26, 2026, a piece of news that has generated surprise and disappointment among millions of fans worldwide.
The announcement was made this Thursday via X (formerly Twitter) and Rockstar’s official website. However, the company did not offer a detailed explanation for the reasons for the delay. In a brief statement, they noted: “With each game we’ve released, the goal has always been to try to exceed expectations, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver the quality you expect and deserve.”
Although the owners of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, had previously insisted that there would be no changes to the release date, they have finally been forced to admit that the game will not be ready for more than a year.
The delay represents a hard blow to market expectations, especially since a possible release between September and October 2025 was speculated. As has happened with previous titles such as GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2, delays already seem to be a constant in Rockstar’s strategy.
