Dramatic video shows floodwaters tearing apart a bridge over the Budhi Gandaki River in Nepal as flash floods swept through the Gorkha district over the weekend.

The footage, shared by WABC Eyewitness News, shows powerful currents pounding the bridge until the structure gives way and is carried downstream. Authorities said at least five people remain missing following the flooding.

Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah said more than 80 people had been rescued from dangerous currents, while six others were rescued from Jagat, an area vulnerable to landslides. Senior Gorkha district official Dharmendra Kumar Mishra said authorities were assisting affected villages and had urged communities along downstream riverbanks to evacuate.

The latest flooding marks another major natural disaster for Nepal, which has faced devastating events in recent months. On August 26, a flood triggered by an avalanche following a glacier collapse near the border with China reportedly killed more than 1,400 people, while thousands remained missing, according to the report.

Authorities continue to respond to the latest flooding and have urged residents in vulnerable areas to move to safety.
