Santo Domingo. This August 11th marks the 123rd anniversary of the passing of Eugenio María de Hostos, the prominent educator, philosopher, writer, and fighter for Puerto Rico’s independence, whose figure regained international relevance after being mentioned by Bad Bunny in the song La Mudanza, included in his album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.
Hostos died on August 11, 1903 in Santo Domingo, the city where he carried out important educational work and where his remains rest in the National Pantheon. His last wish was for his body to remain in the Dominican Republic until Puerto Rico achieved its independence, which is why he has become a symbol of the struggle for the island’s freedom.
