The San Francisco de Macorís Court of Appeals ratified this Tuesday the 20-year prison sentence imposed on Elena Marizán for her involvement in the case of the young woman Lohara Tavárez, during a hearing held at the Palace of Justice in that jurisdiction.
With this decision, the court confirmed in all its parts the sentence issued in the first instance and rejected the appeal filed by Marizán’s defense, upholding the two-decade prison sentence.
The case of Lohara Tavárez has drawn great public attention in the Duarte province and in different areas of the country, where family members, loved ones, and various sectors of society have maintained a constant demand for justice since the event occurred.
