Santo Domingo.- Family members, community leaders, and religious representatives held a demonstration to demand that authorities clarify the death of teenager Anser Daniel Rincón, a 15-year-old baseball prospect who was found lifeless in a lagoon in the Sierra Prieta community, on the Villa Mella–Yamasá highway, behind the José Méndez baseball sports academy.

The minor’s father, Daniel Rincón, expressed his concern regarding the lack of official responses about the circumstances of his son’s death, which occurred four months ago.

As he explained, the teenager was developing his sports training at a baseball academy when the incident occurred.

Although it was initially reported that the preliminary cause of death was drowning, the family asserts that they are still awaiting the final autopsy results. “What we want is for what happened to be clarified. Four months have passed and we still do not have an answer. My son was seeking his future in baseball and we need to know what really happened,” the father stated during a peaceful demonstration held in the streets of the La Ceiba community.

Rincón indicated that, in addition to the delay in the delivery of the forensic results, the family has not received detailed information from the competent authorities or from those responsible for the academy where the teenager was.

Likewise, he/she assured that the minor’s body showed signs that merit an exhaustive investigation to determine the exact circumstances of his death.

The father also stated that so far they have not held meetings with representatives of the Public Ministry to learn about the progress of the case. “We need an answer. Not only us as parents, but the entire community that expects this case to be clarified,” he expressed.

Family members and neighbors have called on national authorities, including the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, to expedite the investigations and release the autopsy results.

Anser Daniel Rincón was found drowned in a lagoon located in Sierra Prieta. According to accounts provided by his relatives, the teenager had gone out with a group of acquaintances and was subsequently reported missing.

The family maintains its demand for justice and an official response regarding the case involving the promising Dominican baseball prospect.
