400 more inmates transferred from La Victoria to CCR Las Parras

Santo Domingo. The General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional Services (DGSPC) announced the entry into operation of the second quadrant of the Las Parras Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR), as part of the process of transferring inmates from La Victoria National Penitentiary.
With this new phase, 400 inmates were relocated, bringing the total number of prisoners transferred to the penitentiary center located in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra to 1,400.
The institution explained that the second quadrant has space to house up to 2,400 inmates, which will allow for the continuation of the plan to decongest the old La Victoria prison and move towards a total occupancy of 4,800 people deprived of liberty in Las Parras.
