Mao, Valverde. – Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), attached to the 4th Infantry Brigade, seized a contraband of 50,000 cigarettes during an operation carried out on the Mao–Santiago Rodríguez highway, near the municipality of Villa Los Almácigos, Santiago Rodríguez province.
n” “nThe military personnel detected a Ford Explorer vehicle, red, year 2000, license plate G104143, whose driver, upon noticing the military presence, fled, which led to a pursuit. Subsequently, the individual abandoned the vehicle and managed to escape from the scene.
n” “nDuring the inspection of the car, the soldiers discovered a secret compartment adapted into the vehicle’s original structure, under the seats, where 250 packs of Capital brand cigarettes were being transported, equivalent to 50,000 units of foreign origin.
