Aberrant case of sexual abuse against a pet in Usme will be judged under the Ángel Law

Bogotá — A shocking case of alleged sexual abuse against a pet in the town of Usme, in the south of Bogotá, has generated alarm and outrage among residents and animal rights organizations. The images of the event, which allegedly captured the subject sexually assaulting a female dog in a desolate area, were spread on social media and led to a complaint before the competent authorities. The Instituto Distrital de Protección y Bienestar Animal (IDPYBA) addressed the case following a report from an animal protector and transferred the animal for veterinary evaluation, which includes clinical examinations to provide evidentiary material. The complaint was referred to the Fiscalía General de la Nación, which assumed the investigation with the support of the Special Group for the Fight against Animal Abuse.
