Santo Domingo.– On the occasion of Father’s Day, President Luis Abinader called on Dominican fathers this Saturday to continue caring for and protecting their families, while acknowledging the dedication, effort, and commitment of those who work every day for the well-being of their children and their homes.
“Parents who protect, who have always been with their daughters and sons, must be recognized. That is why, from here, I want to recognize all Dominican parents and ask them to continue taking care of their families,” the president expressed.
The head of State offered these statements during the “Fathers who Protect” event, organized by the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Aid (Dasac), in coordination with the Ministry of Defense (MIDE), on the occasion of the celebration, this Sunday, of Father’s Day in the Dominican Republic.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Defense, President Abinader shared a lunch with 1,500 heads of households, as part of a tribute to men who, from different trades and sectors, contribute to the well-being of their homes and the development of Dominican society.
The president asked God to bless every Dominican father and reaffirmed his commitment to continue promoting programs and actions that foster family unity, solidarity, and the recognition of exemplary citizens who contribute to the country’s development.

The activity was organized by the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Aid (Dasac), led by Edgar Augusto Féliz Arbona, as a recognition of the commitment, effort, and contribution of Dominican fathers to the well-being of their families and society.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, ERD, and brought together parents from various sectors, who were recognized for their effort, sacrifice, and commitment as the pillars of their families.

During the invocation to God, the vicar of the Ministry of Defense, General Geraldo Ramírez Paniagua, highlighted the importance of recognizing the role of fathers within the family.
“It is the first time I have seen them remember the fathers. Dads are also an important part of the family,” he/she stated.
Among those honored were fishermen, motorcycle taxi drivers, military personnel, police officers, nurses, firefighters, personnel from the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Response System, members of relief organizations, street vendors, construction workers, urban sanitation staff, senior citizens, people with disabilities, drivers, electrical brigade members, dockworkers, merchants, cooks, artisans, and small farmers, among others.
On behalf of the parents, Robinson Herrera Rodríguez thanked President Luis Abinader and Dasac for organizing the activity.
“Gestures like these remind us of the unity and the important role we play as parents in the upbringing of our children and the development of our community. We receive this recognition with much gratitude and renew our commitment to continue being an example of responsibility, love, respect, and hard work for our families,” he/she expressed.
As part of the recognition, the head of State presented certificates of inclusion in the Dasac Family Program to ten parents, representing more than a hundred beneficiaries selected to receive permanent support for their families’ food.

Those present also participated in raffles for appliances, household items, and other gifts, as a token of appreciation for their dedication and commitment.
During his remarks, the general director of Dasac, Edgar Augusto Féliz Arbona, highlighted President Luis Abinader’s commitment to strengthening the Dominican family and recognizing those who work every day to ensure a better future for their children.
“Today we pay tribute to exemplary men who have made hard work, sacrifice, and love for their families a way of life. These fathers represent the values that strengthen our homes and contribute to the development of the Dominican Republic. You are everyday heroes who deserve the respect and admiration of the entire nation,” expressed Féliz Arbona.
The activity included artistic presentations and integration spaces for the attendees, who appreciated the initiative promoted by the Dominican Government through Dasac.
Also participating in the lunch were the Mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía; the Mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña; the Director of the Technical Executing Unit for State Land Titling, Duarte Méndez; and the President of the Presidential Commission for Neighborhood Development Support, Rolfi Rojas.
