ADP warns: “the start of the school year is at risk if the MINERD does not pay Teacher Performance Evaluation incentives”

Santo Domingo.- The National Executive Committee of the Dominican Association of Teachers (CEN-ADP) issued a warning to the Ministry of Education, stating that the start of the 2026-2027 school year could be affected if teachers do not receive the incentives derived from the Performance Evaluation and the corresponding retroactive payment.
“We want to tell the Minister of Education that the start of the school year is at risk if teachers do not receive the benefits of the Teacher Performance Evaluation. If we do not receive the retroactive incentives, the teaching profession will have to take to the streets,” stated the ADP.
The statements come after the ADP called on the Ministry of Education (MINERD) to officialize the final grades of the Teacher Performance Evaluation (EDD), publish the protocol for appeal and review of the results, and proceed with the payment of the economic incentives and the corresponding retroactive pay.
The Secretary of Communications and Public Relations of the ADP’s CEN, Professor Menegildo de la Rosa, maintained that about ten days have passed since the conclusion of the evaluation process, a time he considers sufficient for the MINERD to have officially sent each teacher their consolidated grade.
The teachers’ union leader explained that, although teachers can already view the scores obtained in the different stages of the evaluation on the platform, the institution has not yet made the results official, which is an essential requirement for educators to exercise their right to claim or appeal their results if they identify any inconsistencies before the incentives are applied.
“The Ministry must properly complete this process. We teachers fulfilled our responsibility, we participated in the evaluation, and now it is the State’s turn to fulfill its own. Work done, money that must be paid,” he/she stated.
He pointed out that the teaching staff made the effort to successfully complete the process and now expects the MINERD to act with the same responsibility to conclude the administrative phase, officialize the grades, open the appeals period, and guarantee the payment of incentives.

The union leader highlighted that the ADP has demonstrated a firm commitment to public education over the last few years, contributing to the fulfillment of the school calendar even amidst deep difficulties in the educational system and campaigns that, according to him, have attempted to discredit the union.
“We teachers have fulfilled our part. Now it is the Ministry’s turn to fulfill theirs. We are not claiming privileges; we are demanding respect for rights acquired through a process that concluded for the majority of teachers,” he emphasized.
