Santo Domingo.- Through a video posted on his social media, journalist Norberto Montero, a reporter for RC Noticias, denounced that he was subjected to detention by agents of the Tourist Police (POLITUR), on the night of this Friday in the Colonial Zone.
Montero denounced that while he was carrying out his press duties, POLITUR agents approached him and tried to link him to musicians who were in the area and that despite identifying himself as a journalist, the agents arrested him, and handcuffed him they took him to a detachment, without allowing him a call or showing their personal identifications.
“Upon arriving at the detachment, they didn’t let me explain anything. They held me for 2 hours. They arrested me without allowing me to confirm that I was a journalist and was working. It’s an outrage and they took me away handcuffed with my hands behind my back,” Montero reported.
The journalist stated that he was at the scene covering an activity convened by the Association of Musicians of the Colonial Zone.
