Brasilia. – Brazil announced this Wednesday the shipment of 20,000 tons of rice, other food, and medicine to Cuba, to alleviate the crisis generated by the oil blockade imposed by the United States.
The shipment of food, which is on its way, is carried out through the World Food Programme (WFP), according to spokespersons from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press conference.
The food shipment includes 20,000 tons of paddy rice, another 150 tons of polished rice, 150 tons of black beans, and 500 tons of powdered milk.

By the way, Brazil sent Cuba a shipment of medicines that arrived by air to the Caribbean island “yesterday or the day before yesterday”, as detailed by the Secretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gisela Padovan.
“This is a constant concern for Brazil, seeing that the population is really suffering, that’s why we are making several donations, whether of medicines or food,” said Padovan.

Brazilian donations are added to the aid shipment made this Wednesday by the first delegation of the ‘Our America Convoy’, which arrived in Cuba with about five tons of medical supplies.
The group is composed of 120 representatives from nineteen countries, fifty associations and groups, thirteen political movements and unions, and four MEPs, with supplies provided from Rome and Milan, Italy.
Cuba has been in the midst of a deep economic and social crisis for six years, which has been aggravated since January by the US government’s oil blockade, a policy that the UN has called contrary to international law.
