The Association of Industrialists of the Northern Region (AIREN) recognized the efforts of the Government authorities to preserve the country’s macroeconomic stability in a context of high global uncertainty, for which it expressed its support for the fiscal measures announced this Thursday by the Ministry of Finance and Economy, which will be submitted to the National Congress.
The guild considered it relevant to take care of the most vulnerable sectors of the productive framework and incorporate an approach of shared responsibilities between the State and taxpayers. However, it stressed that any additional contribution requested from the formal private sector must respond to clear criteria of proportionality and temporality, avoiding that the greater weight of the adjustment falls on those who already comply with their obligations and generate quality jobs in the regions.
“From the north, we support a responsible reform, taking into account the points of view of the productive sector. The regional manufacturing industry wants to be an ally in every decision that is made, and is ready to contribute from that position,” stated Luis José Bonilla, president of AIREN.
He recalled that the northern region has built and developed an industrial fabric that is the result of decades of investment, formality, and commitment to the country, which is why preserving the incentives that sustain that productive structure is not a concession.
“The northern region produces, employs, pays taxes, and has much to contribute to a fiscal framework that boosts growth for everyone. A lasting reform is built with the sectors that sustain the national economy, and that is the commitment that AIREN brings to this process,” stated Bonilla.
