COE places 21 communities in Barahona and Bahoruco on green alert due to tests at Monte Grande dam
Santo Domingo. The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported that 21 communities in the provinces of Barahona and Bahoruco were placed on green alert, due to the operational tests of the gates of the Monte Grande dam that the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI) will carry out.
According to the agency, the tests are scheduled for this Thursday, January 15, which could cause river, stream, and ravine rises, as well as possible rural floods in the communities located downstream from the dam.
In Barahona province, the localities under green alert are: Las Minas, Quita Coraa, El Higuito, Fondo Negro, Habanero, Arroyo Grande, Los Conuquitos, Pescadería, Vicente Noble, Uvilla, Canoa, Mena Arriba, Mena Abajo, Jaquimeyes, Bombita, Palo Alto, El Peñón, Fundación and Los Robles.
