Santo Domingo.- This Monday afternoon, a strong windstorm was recorded, impacting the National District and Greater Santo Domingo, leaving several streets and avenues with fallen trees, impassable sidewalks, and partially blocked sections.
Through a tour conducted by De Último Minuto, it was found that roads such as Leopoldo Navarro, Benito Monción, and Santiago in the Gazcue sector, large branches are observed above the electrical wiring and partial blockages in the streets, reducing the space available for traffic and forcing vehicles to maneuver with difficulty.
The sidewalks have also been affected, with branches and trunks occupying the pedestrian passage, forcing citizens to move along the road.
Also, one of the perimeter walls of the Ministry of Culture located on George Washington Avenue was demolished.
Meanwhile, a citizen only identified as José reported how the force of the wind broke branches and leaves fell, while trying to clean the front of his house in the Gazcue sector.
During this tour, Civil Defense, the National District Fire Department, and brigades from the City Hall were observed carrying out cleaning and pruning of the affected trees.
The Emergency Operations Center raised the province of Santo Domingo to red alert due to the trough that is causing rain and wind gusts in the national territory.
