San Juan.– With the purpose of continuing to strengthen social inclusion policies and bringing State services closer to the most needy areas, the General Directorate of Community Development (DGDC), in coordination with the Dominican Republic Army, the National Health Service (SNS), and the National Health Insurance (Senasa), carried out the social assistance day The Community Route, in the municipal district of Las Zanjas, San Juan province.
The day, which began in the early hours of the morning, was held at the Las Charcas de Garabito Educational Center and benefited low-income families, who received comprehensive care through a medical operation that included consultations in various specialties, health evaluations, delivery of medications, and preventive guidance, contributing to improving the quality of life of the locals.
As part of the operation, raw food rations, maternity baskets, school supplies, mosquito nets, gas tanks, and toys for children were distributed; likewise, those present had access to a barbershop station.

The day was supervised by the head of the General Directorate of Community Development, Dr. Modesto Guzmán; with the support of the Dominican Republic Army, represented by Colonel Franklin Hernández Fernández; the provincial Governor’s Office, by Francia Beltré; the director of the Las Zanjas district board, Luis Freddy de Los Santos; the regional manager of Senasa, Marleny Montero; the director of the Regional Health Service, Dr. César Benzán; the director of the school center, Adelfa Javier Suero; also from the DGDC, the deputy general director, Félix Paulino; the advisor assigned to the Social Assistance Department, Frank Garcia; and the head of the Regional Office, Wilton Nova.

In his speech, Dr. Modesto Guzmán highlighted that these types of sessions are part of the DGDC’s work and its permanent commitment to working in a coordinated manner with other State institutions to bring real solutions to the most remote communities in the country, promoting equity, inclusion, and human development.
“Our presence is due to the interest of President Luis Abinader, a president who is attentive to the poor and the most needy. A president who is interested in the community, and who has an interest in ensuring that services reach the most vulnerable,” expressed official Guzmán.
During the health fair, the beneficiary families thanked President Luis Abinader and each of the institutions that were present, describing the activity as the most extensive and complete one that has been carried out in the community of Las Charcas de Garabito.
