Santo Domingo East.– The National Confederation of Transport Organizations (Conatra) called off the work stoppage it had announced for this Thursday, after the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) intervened in the conflict related to the alleged invasion of routes and changes in authorized operation profiles.
The decision was made following an agreement between the drivers’ organization and the transporters of Santo Domingo Este, who had warned about the suspension of service due to disputes with other unions in the sector.
Conatra’s vice president, Tony Marte, thanked Intrant for its mediation and stated that the agency’s intervention allowed for a solution to the conflict to be reached.

Marte pointed out that the route occupations reported by the union represent a violation of Law 63-17 on Mobility, Land Transport, Transit and Road Safety, and assured that this situation had been previously reported to the authorities.

With the suspension of the strike, the units affiliated with Conatra will continue to offer transport service in East Santo Domingo while the agreements reached are being followed up.
