Congressman Ramón Raposo urges authorities to work hand in hand with community leaders and neighborhood councils

Santo Domingo. – The deputy Ramón Raposo urged the authorities of the central Government and the city councils to work hand in hand with community leadership and neighborhood councils. The legislator made the call, within the framework of the celebration of a thanksgiving mass, held by the Municipal Union of Neighborhood Councils (UMJUVE), in the América Latina parish of the Sabana Perdida sector of the Santo Domingo Norte municipality, on the occasion of the celebration this March 31st of the National Day of Neighborhood Councils. Ramón Raposo highlighted that the neighborhood associations deeply understand the realities of each community, from infrastructure, paving, and public lighting issues, to needs related to citizen security, health, and education of families.

He pointed out that the grassroots organizations closest to the population are the neighborhood councils. At the same time, he highlighted that community leaders know every street, every family, and every problem facing the neighborhood. “It is essential that the central Government and the municipalities work together with the neighborhood councils, establishing permanent communication channels and strategic alliances that allow concrete solutions to be brought to the places where they are most needed,” the legislator pointed out. The Eucharist integrated presidents and members of neighborhood boards from more than 20 communities in the different sectors of the Santo Domingo Norte municipality, as well as representatives of community organizations and social leaders committed to the development of their communities.
