Caracas.- The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, met this Monday with the new chargé d’affaires of the United States, Laura Dogu, who arrived in the South American country on Saturday to reopen the diplomatic mission, closed for seven years after the rupture of relations between both nations, according to the Minister of Communication, Miguel Pérez Pirela.
Through a Telegram post, the Minister of Communication, Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela, indicated that Rodríguez received Dogu at the Miraflores presidential palace, while sharing two photographs of the meeting.
Likewise, he said that the meeting took place within the framework “of the work agenda between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the United States of America”, without offering further details of the conversation.

The Role of the United States Diplomat in Venezuela
Dogu will serve as the chargé d’affaires for the Venezuela Affairs Unit and will work with people from the public and private sectors, as well as with civil society, to promote a three-phase plan in the South American country established by the United States Government.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that this three-phase plan will be marked by a first stage of stabilization, another of recovery, and finally the democratic transition.
