The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, said this Thursday that she spoke with the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, regarding the response to the earthquakes that were recorded in the South American country on Wednesday.

In a message posted on his Telegram account, Rodríguez said that Guterres expressed his solidarity with Venezuela and condolences for the victims, as well as a willingness for the UN to support the nation at this time.

“He has expressed to us the full willingness of the United Nations to mobilize the capabilities of its system and its agencies, with the purpose of supporting the efforts to address the emergency facing our country,” he said.
