Santo Domingo.- The Dominican badminton team will participate in several international events in Mexico and Guatemala, as part of its preparation program for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 to be held from July 24 to August 8 of next year.
The announcement was made public by the president of the Dominican Badminton Federation (FEDOBAD), Nelson Javier Ozuna, after seeing off this Tuesday the Dominican Republic team that will participate in the V Mexico Future Series 2025 which will take place in the Aztec city of Aguascalientes, and the VII Guatemala Future Series 2025, in Guatemala City. Both tournaments are part of the circuit endorsed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
According to Javier Ozuna, this international tour represents a strategic step within the national team’s preparation program for the Santo Domingo 2026 Games, the top regional sporting event in which Dominican badminton aspires to a prominent performance as the host country.
The V Mexico Future Series 2025 will be held from August 27 to 31 in Aguascalientes, followed immediately by the VII Guatemala Future Series 2025, in the Guatemalan capital city. Both tournaments are a fundamental part of the BWF international calendar and constitute an excellent opportunity to raise the competitive performance of Dominican athletes.
“Estos eventos internacionales son clave en el proceso de preparación hacia Santo Domingo 2026. Nos enfrentaremos a rivales de primer nivel y eso permitirá a nuestros atletas medir su evolución, afinar estrategias y fortalecer su experiencia, ya que estamos comprometidos con una preparación integral y de calidad”,

He highlighted that the national team is made up of a delegation of elite athletes who will represent the country in the singles and doubles modalities, under the technical direction of national coaches Wilton Tavárez and Maykel Moreno.
“These events will serve as a high-level training ground against athletes from America and other regions, allowing us to evaluate the team’s competitive progress and accumulate valuable points in the world ranking.”
