LIMA, PERU. The Dominican Republic Women’s National Volleyball Team won the 2026 U-17 Volleyball Federation Cup held here, after defeating Spain on the final day of competition with a score of (25-20, 25-23, and 25-23), in a match held at the Eduardo Dibós Coliseum in front of a good crowd. The Dominicans finished with a 2-1 record.

The leader of the Dominican team, Priscila Rivera, former queen of the Caribbean, congratulated each of her athletes for the great work done in that Cup, where they gave their best in every match.
“These girls are barely between 14 and 15 years old, they have a world to learn in this sport, these types of events will help them a lot to advance in their future performances because they will be changing categories where the responsibilities will be greater,” emphasized Rivera.
He stated that now, they are leaving this page behind, and will focus on what will be the U-17 World Championship that will begin this week in Chile, from the 6th to the 16th of this month.
“In the World Cups, nothing is given away, everything must be earned, that is why we will arrive there well-focused on playing each match with the fundamentals, with a cool head, and holding the tricolor flag high,” emphasized Rivera.
The invitational tournament was held as a preparation for the different teams, prior to their participation starting on the sixth in the beginning of the World Championship for that category, which will take place in Chile.
