The public differences between both exponents date back to the end of 2015, when they began a joint tour in Puerto Rico produced by Raphy Pina. The conflict resurfaced in 2022, generating new media clashes between Don Omar and the producer, who is currently serving a federal sentence.However, that same year, when Daddy Yankee announced his retirement from secular music, Don Omar dedicated a message to him that marked the definitive closure of that stage. “Today we close the book that held the best chapters of our controversial rivalry. Thank you for your words and for listening to mine, which also came from the heart”, he expressed then. In that message, he also recognized Yankee’s impact on the genre: “Thank you for collaborating and competing, because I did it with a titan”.

Daddy Yankee responded at that moment with words of reconciliation and a spiritual invitation. “Today we leave behind the controversies between two exponents who put our Puerto Rican flag high. I hope our last round is against the enemy of souls, battling together in the Lord’s army,” he stated. Don Omar’s greeting coincides with a special moment for Daddy Yankee, who celebrated his 50th birthday with the release of the official video for Toy Hermoso, included in his most recent album Lamento en Baile. The audiovisual, filmed in Puerto Rico, presents a fusion of Caribbean rhythms and a proposal loaded with color, energy, and spiritual symbolism. The theme celebrates the strength, faith, and joy of standing tall in the face of difficulties, a message that defines this new stage of the artist. The album also includes songs like “Smile” and “ABCD”, the latter in collaboration with Alex Zurdo.
