DR participates for the first time in an international assembly of Ministers of Justice

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Republic participates for the first time in the Plenary Assembly of the Conference of Ministers of Justice of the Ibero-American Countries through the newly created Ministry of Justice of the Dominican Republic, within the framework of the XXIV meeting that is taking place since this Thursday in the city of Panama City. The Dominican delegation is headed by the Minister of Justice, Antoliano Peralta Romero, and also includes the Vice Minister of Human Rights, Noel Sued Canahuate. This is the first time the country is participating in this important international forum through the Ministry of Justice, an institution created and installed in January of this year. Previously, the Dominican representation before this organization was exercised by the Attorney General’s Office. The COMJIB is an international organization founded in 1992 through the so-called Treaty of Madrid and brings together the ministries of Justice and homologous institutions of the countries that make up the Ibero-American community, with the purpose of strengthening public policies in the sector and promoting international legal cooperation.

As part of the activities of the XXIV Plenary Assembly, Minister Peralta Romero will participate as a guest panelist this Friday, March 6, in the “High-Level Seminar on International Legal Cooperation in the Ibero-American Space.” During his intervention, the official will address the topic “The future of international legal cooperation in Latin America“, where he will present the country’s vision and its commitment to strengthening the justice system, as well as to promoting mechanisms of legal cooperation between the nations of the region.
