Drake dethrones Michael Jackson as the solo artist with the most number 1s in history on Billboard

Los Angeles.- Canadian rapper Drake has broken the record held by Michael Jackson as the solo male artist with the most number 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Billboard magazine reported this Tuesday. The debut of his latest single, ‘Janice STFU’, at the top of this list marks the fourteenth number 1 that Drake has topped on the Hot 100, allowing him to surpass the tie with the King of Pop. The rapper has also achieved a new record of 42 songs in a single week on the Hot 100 chart, surpassing Morgan Wallen, who achieved 37 in a week last month, according to data from the specialized magazine. With 40 debuts, he also becomes the first artist to accumulate more than 400 entries on that list throughout his career.

Hot 100 combines online content data (streaming) from all genres in the U.S., radio play, and sales. This last metric reflects purchases of physical singles and digital tracks on music platforms, and excludes sales made directly to the consumer. Drake is at the peak of success after the release of his three albums on May 15th. The rapper had been anticipating ‘Iceman’ for almost two years, presenting songs in several live streams before they reached digital platforms.
