Edesur carried out about 570,000 actions to make the service more efficient and reduce losses
Santo Domingo. – During the past year 2025, Edesur Dominicana carried out some 574,761 actions within its strategy to make the service more efficient, reduce electricity losses and consolidate the operational sustainability of the sector.
The work included inspections due to suspicions of irregularities in electricity consumption, dismantling of illegal connections, regularization processes and acquisition of new clients, installation of more meters and revision of the measurement systems.
From last January to December, the distributor executed 245,554 supply adjustments which, along with other interventions, add to the fight against the electrical fraud that it has been carrying out.
For the period, it installed 170,200 remote-reading meters and 17,209 conventional ones, in addition to another 55,284 changes of these devices to active customers. The installation of new meters allowed the company to eliminate at least 14,069 direct connections.
Edesur also worked on the sanitation of the prepaid service, closing the year with the figure of 19,417 sanitized clients and 1,404 Concentrated Measurement Modules in Height -MCA normalized.
The supply to a total of 972 customers who receive energy at medium voltage levels was regularized.
The number of disconnections due to detected irregularities rose to 18,800, plus another 551 customers who were found to be engaging in electricity theft as a result of interventions carried out in coordination with the Deputy Attorney General for the Electric System (PGASE).
With these actions, Edesur Dominicana reaffirms its commitment to a safe, transparent, efficient, and optimal electricity service.
The company urges citizens to continue collaborating with the normalization processes and reporting irregularities, as a way to continue reducing losses and ensuring the operational sustainability of the electricity system.
