Santo Domingo.– The Faculty of Arts of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) held a general assembly this Thursday that was described as “historic” by its authorities, by approving the new curricula under the competency-based curricular approach for its seven schools and recognizing three teachers with the title of Professoras Meritísimas.-

The conference, held in the Ricardo Michel auditorium of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, was attended by a large number of faculty members and represented the first assembly of this faculty since 2012.

During the meeting, the curricular redesigns of each school were put to a vote —in person and by ballot— as well as the recognitions to teachers María del Pilar Domingo, Mabel Artidiello and Amelia Soto, for their outstanding academic career and their contributions to the institution.

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Arelis Subero Maceo, assured that it is “a milestone” in the history of that academic department. “This curricular design and redesign is a commitment made years ago and has been possible thanks to the joint work of many people. Today we take an important step towards institutional strengthening. This is only the first phase. The next step will be implementation,” she said.

For his part, the vice-dean, Fidel Munnigh, valued the update of the educational model. “This achievement represents a significant advance for the faculty, an improvement in the quality of teaching and a pertinent response to current demands,” he maintained.

In addition to the votes and recognitions, the new institutional logos of the schools were presented during the assembly, which, according to their authorities, reflect a modern and innovative vision of the faculty.
