Santo Domingo.- “Music is a language that people consume”, were the words of the Dominican artist Gabriel Pagán, who celebrated this Wednesday his second nomination for the 2026 Latin Grammy awards, this time in the “Best Merengue/Bachata Album” category, for his record production “No era el plan”.
The performer spoke exclusively about this recognition and the meaning it has for his career to once again be among the nominees of one of the main Latin music awards.
The artist’s first nomination occurred in the year 2017, when he was recognized for his album “Contra Corriente”, which competed in the Best Contemporary Tropical Album category.
Nine years later, the artist returns to the competition with a new production and in a category that brings together merengue and bachata proposals.
Pagan assured that he receives this nomination as a blessing and in a special way since, as the album title indicates “No era el Plan” (It wasn’t the plan), which is why he is grateful to have the collaboration of great artists such as the “Galán del Merengue” (Merengue Gentleman), Eddy Herrera.

“I receive this blessing, this nomination, in a very special way because first of all, it was an album that “No Era el Plan” (It Wasn’t the Plan), that is the name of the album, No Era el Plan… Where I also have the privilege of being able to count on collaborations from great masters and colleagues, Ilegales, Vladimir from Ilegales, Nelson Zapata from Proyecto Uno, Eddy Herrera, Manny Cruz”, expressed the performer of the song “A Tan Solo una Hora” (Just an Hour Away).
The performer indicated that, as an artist and songwriter, he never works with the intention of provoking a nomination or receiving an award; however, he was grateful that an academy recognizes his work. Beyond the accolades, Gabriel Pagán assured that his greatest satisfaction lies in making music from love and passion, letting the public and the industry value the result of his effort.
“I tell you that in the end, the one who makes music or works with love, first of all never works, and second, what is born is pure love from here, so if they consider that they can recognize it and want to recognize it, it is extremely welcome”, Pagán detailed.

Upcoming musical projects
The artist announced that part of his artistic agenda for the coming months includes a university tour across the country between October and November, in addition to new performances that will be announced soon alongside other colleagues.
