Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Government will launch this Thursday, June 11 the National Consultation for the Future of Dominican Education, a broad, participatory, and representative process that seeks to listen to the different sectors of society regarding the education the country needs for the coming years.
The initiative responds to the presidential mandate established through Decree No. 309-26, which provides for the organization of a national consultation process aimed at gathering opinions, experiences, proposals, and concerns regarding the present and future of Dominican education.
One of the central purposes of this Consultation is to gather the social, technical, and institutional contributions necessary to move towards the agreement of a new education law, which responds to the country’s current challenges and replaces the current legal framework.
The Consultation will be jointly promoted by the Ministry of Education (Minerd), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) and the National Institute for Technical Vocational Training (Infotep).
The process will be aimed at students, teachers, families, educational institutions, the technical-professional sector, the productive sector, civil society, churches, community organizations, local authorities, specialists, youth, and Dominicans residing abroad.

More than just a schedule of meetings, the Consultation seeks to open a national conversation about the education we have and the education we want to build as a country. Its results will allow for the gathering of social, technical, and institutional inputs to guide future decisions regarding education.
Dominican education is at a decisive moment. Therefore, this process represents an opportunity to listen to the country, promote a shared vision, and move towards an education more relevant, inclusive, articulated, and connected with the needs of the Dominican Republic.
After the launch event, regional, sectoral forums and other participation spaces will be developed, which are scheduled to conclude next July.

With this National Consultation, the Government reaffirms its commitment to promoting a broad, plural, and constructive dialogue about the future of Dominican education, recognizing that educational transformation and the creation of a new education law are tasks for everyone.
